Peanut Butter Love

It is peanut butter lovers month – and I am one of those people who identify as a peanut butter lover.

Last year, I posted about peanut butter being a perfect food. And that has not changed.

I am a fan of the creamy form – not crunchy. But we all have our preferences, and there is nothing wrong with our personal preferences. Parents and caregivers should use creamy for small children to reduce the risk of choking.

This year, I am providing my list of 15 ways to have peanut butter in your diet. There are no rules here; use as much or as little as you want.

  1. Peanut butter on toast with raisins – whole grain toast, sprinkle raisins.

  2. Peanut butter stirred into oatmeal – add 1 – 2 tablespoons of peanut butter into hot oatmeal until melted.

  3. Peanut butter banana sandwich – just like making a peanut butter sandwich, skip the jelly or honey and top it with a sliced banana.

  4. Peanut butter spread over hot pancakes, waffles, or French toast – adds protein.

  5. Peanut butter added to a smoothie with chocolate almond milk, frozen banana, and plain Greek yogurt.

  6. Peanut butter stirred into Greek yogurt – use as a fruit dip with apples, pears, and bananas.

  7. Peanut butter on crackers – saltines, butter crackers, or whole grain, it doesn’t matter; it is an excellent snack.

  8. Peanut butter on chocolate rice cakes tastes like a peanut butter cup.

  9. Peanut butter on apple cinnamon rice cakes – apple and peanut butter taste

  10. Peanut butter on banana bread – adding protein to this quick bread

  11. Peanut butter on a sliced granny smith apple – a great snack

  12. Peanut butter stirred into a butternut squash or sweet potato soup – stir up to 1/3 cup into the hot soup/stew.

  13. Peanut butter stirred into hot pasta – and maybe add some shrimp or chicken pieces.

  14. Peanut butter on top of chocolate or vanilla ice cream (or whatever flavor you choose – melt it to pour over or stir into softened ice cream

  15. Peanut butter straight from the jar with a spoon – there is nothing wrong with that.
